Napa double murder court hearings postponed until September

Napa double murder court hearings postponed until September

The trial was moved Wednesday for three people charged in the April 13 shooting deaths of a teenage girl and woman on a residential street in Napa.

The plea was to be filed in Napa County Superior Court by Jonathan Nicholson Jr., 22, of Vallejo, and Santa Rosa residents Jessica Whitten and Judith Adolph, both 19.

The case was adjourned to September 17 after a brief hearing which focused mostly on the receipt and exchange of information relevant to the case, including Nicholson’s medical records.

Officials said the delay was because they needed more time to collect and review a large amount of evidence in the case.

The defendants are suspected in the deaths of Aileen Villasenor, 19, of Rohnert Park and Sasha Mufich, 17, of Napa.

Nicholson and Whitten are charged with two counts of murder. The latter is also accused of being an accessory. Adolph is charged with two counts of assault with a semi-automatic rifle and one count of being an accessory.

Napa police say the teenagers were shot on Riverside Drive, where one victim was pronounced dead. The other died at an area hospital.

According to court records, Nicholson, Whitten and Adolph were at the scene so Adolph could fight one of the victims.

During the altercation, one of the victims stabbed Adolph before Nicholson donned a mask, chased the victims and opened fire, according to court records.

Whitten is accused of driving the car that the three defendants used to leave the scene.
