Breezy Point Hiring Interim City Administrator – Pine and Lakes Echo Journal

BREEZY POINT

— The Breezy Point City Council unanimously approved a contract with Placid Lake Advisors, Inc. (Jerry Bohnsack) for its interim city administrator position at a special meeting on Friday, September 20.

Bohnsack interviewed the council at Friday’s meeting before its decision.

The interim city administrator will pay $90 per hour while Breezy Point searches for a permanent city administrator.

The need for an interim city administrator comes after the city council accepted a separation agreement and resignation of former city administrator David Chanski on Sept. 3.

Chanski resigned from his position citing a hostile work environment.

Bohnsack most recently served as interim city administrator for Crosslake and had a part-time planning and zoning contract with the city of Breezy Point for 12 years. He also has 33 years of experience as a city administrator.

Bohnsack said his goal is to take on the position part-time because he is needed, and he doesn’t foresee problems working with staff and council given his history with the city.

“I would like to start with a goal of three days a week and go from there. I know the staff here, and I think they would say I trust them. I think they know what they are doing, and I don’t think personnel issues will be a problem for me. I still talk to the same staff that was here when I was here, says Bohnsack.

Councilman Michael Moroni said he had not experienced the city being without an administrator during his tenure on the council and hoped the council could find someone to guide the city until it finds a permanent city administrator.

“In my time here, this is new ground for us,” Moroni said. “I think we need that level of leadership and somebody coming in to help us get through the end of the year. The goal, in my opinion, is not to take on anything new except to help us find the next long-term administrator and guide us through it.”

Council members agreed that Bohnsack’s long experience as a city administrator and with the city of Breezy Point makes him a good fit for the interim position.

Council member Brad Scott was absent from the meeting.
